Midterms hit and they hit hard, taking already scarce fishing time away from the fish. But as is the case with fishing, you just have to make time for it, so I’ve been utilizing the local ponds for quick sessions after class and in the night for a few bass. With the hot temperatures we’ve been having on the Central Coast for the past week, the bass have been getting more active, especially during nighttime. Now that’s not to say I’ve been hauling them in by the tens, but I’ve been regularly catching fish, which is pretty good by my standards.
I’ve been messing around with some new fly tying techniques and such, utilizing Flymen Fishing Co. articulation segments and sculpin helmets, and also trying jig hooks and adding some loose bead heads for rattles, which has been showing some good results.
Below are some pictures of my study breaks, enjoy them!
And here’s one of the fly ideas I’m trying out, a sort of jig, diver.
